How long should you stay?
One night is possible, but two nights usually creates a better experience. It lets you see the town early and late, when day-trip traffic is lower, and gives space for walking rather than rushing.

Chefchaouen fits naturally between Tangier and Fes. It can also work at the start of a northern Morocco route before continuing south.
What the day should feel like
The town is compact. A good visit is less about filling a schedule and more about walking, viewpoints, food, local shops and time in the surrounding Rif landscape.
